Effective July 1, 2025, China's mandatory national standard GB18584-2024 for furniture harmful substance limits has established a new global benchmark for environmental safety in the furniture industry. Developed under the 2025-2030 Green Building Policy Framework, this regulation represents a significant shift from the previous GB18584-2001 standard. Crucially, it adopts the climate chamber test method (per ISO 16000-9) instead of the older drying oven method, reducing formaldehyde emissions from 1.5mg/L to 0.08mg/m³ – a 95% reduction. The standard also introduces strict limits for volatile organic compounds: benzene (≤0.06mg/m³), toluene (≤0.15mg/m³), and TVOC (≤0.50mg/m³).

Our solid wood chairs undergo third-party SGS climate chamber testing to exceed these requirements, achieving formaldehyde at 0.03mg/m³ (62.5% below the limit), benzene at 0.02mg/m³ (66.7% below), and TVOC at 0.25mg/m³ (50% below). This compliance is not merely regulatory – it aligns with the EU's REACH regulations and the CE certification process. Since January 2025, the EU has explicitly required imported furniture to meet GB18584-2024 standards for CE marking, as confirmed by the European Commission's 2024 Technical Guidance Document.
Market research by the European Furniture Association reveals 78% of European buyers now prioritize products certified under GB18584-2024, driving a 35% surge in demand for certified eco-friendly furniture in 2025. This trend is accelerating export growth: our chairs are now exported to 28 EU countries, including Germany, France, and the Netherlands, with a 42% year-on-year increase in orders. By proactively embracing these standards – ahead of the 2025 deadline – we’ve positioned ourselves as a leader in global sustainable furniture, turning regulatory compliance into a competitive advantage that resonates with environmentally conscious consumers worldwide.
